Here’s one of those classic type of photos that every photographer has done, or will do, sometime in their life. This palm frond photo was taken at Kelly’s Landing, just after the this one of a Mangrove Claw.

Ok of course that isn’t the real name of this beautiful little (2cm across) flower, but I can’t help thinking that the spots make it look Tigerish. Originally I thought of the flowers looking like Leopards because of the spots but then realised that they look more like Tiger colouring (even though Tigers are striped instead). I took this photo at the Mt Archer State School grounds in Rockhampton.

Here’s another shot from working at the Lychee farm, this time showing them going through the washing, sorting and packing process.

Sorry guys for the lack of posts the last few days, been really busy doing some Lychee picking at a farm up the road so here’s a photo of some lychees for you.

Today Dad and I drove up to Kelly’s Landing in the 4WD, which was a great trip, lots of lovely scenery to drive through and it had that rainy overcast feeling in the air which I love. Anyway once we’d arrived I went off in search of some photos and found a little track besides the edge of the creek (which is part of the huge Corio Bay inlet). At the end there was a whole lot of mangroves and I found this scary looking Mangrove shoot.

These pretty purple flowers grow down in the back garden.

This little Green Tree frog was hugging the tap when I took this photo. Focus is on the eye.

On the tour we went on at the Capricorn Caves, they have a special event that only happens around the Summer Solstice. Basically there is a small hole in the roof of one of the caverns, and when the sun is directly overhead at around 12pm, it shines straight through the hole to the cave below. This photo shows the light-show that occurs when a disco ball is placed in the beam of sunlight.

Its been a long time since I last posted at the old Contrasting Sharply site. This new site will hopefully be the beginning of a regularly updated photoblog much different from the old one.

The old site, still online at briterwebdesign.com/photoblog/, was hard to update, and I also felt that I had to post images in the order I had taken them. This will all change in the new Contrasting Sharply. In addition to a better commenting system & fully automatic content managament system I will also be able to schedule updates ahead of time.

For those wanting to know the technical details, this site is built on the Wordpress CMS, using custom fields to store image data such as the location, shutter speed, date and aperture.
